Island Chill Receives World Award

Island Chill, the Fijian artesian water, has been honoured by the International Taste and Quality Institute (iTQi) in Brussels.

The Carpenters Waters (Fiji) Limited product won the Diamond Taste Award 2018.

The company is a subsidiary of the Carpenters Fiji Group and is International Organization for Standardisation recognised.

The Diamond Taste Award is granted only to products that have reached three Golden stars Superior Taste Award (with a gustatory score over 90 per cent) seven times over the last 10 years.

The company having fulfilled this and winning the award means thumbs up to the Fijian Made product and provides an assurance to consumers that they are buying water of the finest quality and taste.

The award was created to further assist Food and Drink manufacturers to prove consistency in their products over a long period of time and to help differentiate themselves from competition.

Carpenters Fiji Limited regional sales manager – Pacific Navin Tandon said: “This achievement is particularly remarkable given the fact that the same product is judged on a strictly blind basis by different juries each year, who are selected among Chefs and Sommeliers members of the major European culinary associations.

“iTQi is based in Brussels, it is the world leading organisation dedicated to tasting and promoting superior food and drink.

“This is a great boost for the brand which gives us an edge over our competitors.

“We are very proud that we are able to contribute to the economy through export to a number of countries internationally.”

The company exports across the Pacific, China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand. There are plans to soon export to United States of America and Taiwan.

“We are exporting a good volume across to our current markets and recently our product was used at a fashion show in Japan, all the participants had the bottle in the hand.

“One of our customers in China is using our product in manufacturing medicine and body products. We are in advance stage of discussion with some of our partners to see the growth of the brand and Fiji as a whole.”

The awards will take place on June 11 in Brussells, the Belgium capital.
